Philosophy

The philosophy of care at the Brooklyn United Methodist Church Home is best expressed by our motto:

We Believe It Can Be Done

We Believe that all residents can lead fruitful lives within the confines of their physical and mental conditions. Fears and problems of old age can be effectively resolved and often reversed in an atmosphere of respect, dignity, consideration, compassion and hope.

"My father was shown a kindness, dedication, and competence that I thought had passed from this world."

We Believe it essential to recognize the total needs of the resident – physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual and to recognize the role of family, friends, culture and community in planning a program of care.

We Believe that all residents have an equal right to optimum, consistent care rendered in an environment of serenity, calm, and dignity.

We Believe that quality care and support need not necessarily foster dependence.

We Believe that all members of the staff must work together to create a healthy atmosphere and an incentive for living for the residents.

We Believe that the problems of aging are often reversible – and that man never ceases to grow except by saying "It can't be done."
